FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION

FIRST Robotics Competition
Introduction:
FIRST Robotics Competition Team NPSI #8235 was formed in the month of September, although Summative Exams prevented its officiating till the month of December. Throughout these months, recruitment work performed by the creators of the team, under the guidance of our school principal Mr Kris Bhatt, as well as certain fundraising plans, preparation for outreach events, and recruitment of new contacts and mentors to aid us was completed. Team 8235 also met with several other veteran FRC team members and mentors, and this proved invaluable in conducting our team beginnings and forming our team identity. We planned a Kickoff to officiate our team at the beginning of December, a new month for a new team to promote and participate in the vast world of STEM.
Kickoff:
It was the beautiful morning of winter’s premiere. By the crack of dawn, our team had awoken, and by the sun’s glorious rise, assembled at the Kew Green Condominium’s antique function hall. An excited chatter spread among us- it was our team’s official Kickoff! Having formed just a month prior, our team had already formed powerful bonds, and were eager for advice to strengthen them, translating into our work in the FIRST robotics competition.
The enthusiasm rose visibly when members from Singapore American School’s FRC team (#4817 One Degree North), the first one in Southeast Asia, came to give us advice on how to go about the competition next. After brief introductions and group pictures, the three invaluable members shared the secrets of the competition. Despite it only being a day since our enlightenment, we are already confident of achieving far higher than what we could’ve ever expected before. Of course, we also recognize the innumerable unaccounted obstacles we’ve already seen, but are ready to face them and clear our way to success!
A wonderful presentation, an in-depth analysis, and plenty of discussions about the intricacies of FRC ensured that the kickoff was an immense success! None of the team members can wait to get started on each of their respective duties to the team.
Shortly following the kickoff, we have each formed subgroups, which, similar to the gracious professionalism spirit of FIRST, help each other at every chance we get. Different subgroups include Outreach, Design, and Programming, all of us are eager to begin work on the Prototype Robot, which will then be translated to an improved, contest-worthy FIRST-born robot.
